End of Life Management: "Recycle & Reuse"
Recyclability and reuse are each crucial to our 'design for the environment' and LCA processes. In addition to influencing the raw materials we use, they also define how our products are handled at the end of their useful life.
Successful recycle/reuse efforts require using significant recycled content, and ensuring that recycled content is toxin-free. It also requires designing the product for disassembly, with parts marked for the proper recycling stream.
Customers also need a partner that can help them understand the choices for responsible disposition of product when it’s no longer needed.
Steelcase and its dealers such as Workplace Environments in Ireland, are willing to help customers – on a case-by-case basis – to evaluate, select and find an environmentally responsible method of managing their product at the end of their intended use. Leveraging our extensive local dealers network along with a national network of recyclers, resellers and non-profit agencies, we can provide a variety of alternatives to sending unused furniture into landfills, such as:
