Steelcase Tokyo WorkLife invites designers to refashion Think® chairs and introduces new products
Japan, April 15, 2010 - Steelcase, a global office environments company whose architecture, furniture and technology products help people have a better work experience, is continuing its support of local artistic communities across Asia with its refashioned Think® chair event.
Steelcase has invited eight of Tokyo’s renowned designers, photographers and artists to refashion its award-winning Think® chair with the completed designs now on display at Tokyo WorkLife. Each chair reflects the artist’s individual vision and expression of form and function. Each is a piece of art. First launched in Singapore with resounding success, the refashioning of Think® chairs has captured the imaginations of the artistic community in Beijing before arriving in Tokyo.
To celebrate this event, Steelcase introduces its Think® chair with 14 standard color selections in 3D-knit seatback. The Think® chair adds a splash of color to brighten up the office or can blend with the surroundings so the brilliance of the people shines through.
In addition, Steelcase will also feature a range of products new to Tokyo, including the cobi® chair, i2i® chair and media:scape™. Cobi®, i2i® and media:scape™ were specifically designed to foster collaboration in the workplace, allowing people to excel through teamwork. Furthermore, Cobi® and media:scape™ were identified by the Best of NeoCon design award panel for their exceptional design, with cobi™ winning Silver in the conference chair category and media:scape™ winning Gold in media solution.
The landscape of today’s workspace is changing. Footprints are shrinking, reconfigurations are happening more often and workers no longer want or need to sit in a “box”. They want open spaces that still provide privacy. And it’s no surprise that today’s workspace has to support technology like never before. Steelcase’s new collaborative products use design and technology to help bring people together so they can work smarter and more effectively.
