Think Art Exhibition in India
Steelcase marked the opening of the newly renovated Steelcase Gurgaon WorkLife Center near Delhi with an exclusive preview of its new Manifesto and Lexicon furnishing system ranges, together with a Think Art Exhibition. The “art meets chair” themed exhibition featuring inspired works by leading designers and artists in India, and follows in the footsteps of successful exhibitions in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, and more recently Singapore.
For the exhibition, a number of top Indian designers and artists were invited to expand the concept of seating, with highly individual interpretations of Think chairs that blend aesthetics and functionality. The event featured their reinterpreted Think chair designs in a display that highlighted India's dynamic creative energy. Three of the designs were selected for special recognition.
“Steelcase is delighted to be able to provide a platform to foster India's design talent and at the same time, to meet the growing needs of the nations next generation of workers, blending the perfect balance of design aesthetic and functionality,” said Uli Gwinner, President of Steelcase Asia Pacific.
Manifesto and Lexicon previewed at Singapore event
On 28th April, Steelcase WorkLife Singapore hosted the city’s architecture and design community and key clients at a special event at the showroom to preview the new Manifesto and Lexicon furnishing system ranges in South East Asia. The development of the two new ranges grew out of insights gained from recent human-centered research conducted by Steelcase to explore the changing ways of working and workplace needs of today’s workforce.
The research, conducted in major global markets including China and India, revealed that work styles, new work-life demands and increasing workspace density are all contributing to changing the way office systems and storage in the workplace are planned and used.
“Steelcase is delighted to be able to meet the growing needs of Asia’s next generation of workers, blending the perfect balance of design aesthetic and functionality,” said Uli Gwinner, President of Steelcase Asia Pacific. The new products are at the center of our Asian strategy expressed in the core concept of ‘you are unique, you are the future.”
“Creating better workplace environments benefits organizations, noticeably by helping them attract, engage, and retain top talent. A growing number of companies across Asia are partnering with Steelcase to understand and leverage generational work styles to meet business objectives.”
Singapore - Saturday in Design
The first-ever Saturday in Design in Singapore generated an overwhelming response. Held on 21 May, over 3,000 people including designers, students and end user registered for the event, with nearly 280 dropping into Steelcase WorkLife Singapore to see our latest products.
The highlights in our showroom were a Think Art chair exhibition featuring chairs from Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing and Shanghai, together with Michelle Gu and Saiful Anuar designing Think chairs on site. We also had live mural painting on the wall behind the showroom, and actively encouraged kids to pick up a brush and add their creative expression on the theme “Love how you Work.” Visitors also indulged in drawing caricatures on the eno interactive whiteboard.
