media:scape: Environmental 

media:scape technology components will be RoHS/WEEE compliant and will carry the EnergyStar® rating. The puck is designed for easy disassembly. Cabling will be PVC free. PVC-free edge banding is also available.

Life-cycle approach
Our work has confirmed that Steelcase products with high steel content, such as panels and storage have less environmental impact (low energy resource consumption, global warming potential, acidification potential, solid waste and particulate matter) than most our competitors' products which typically have a higher plastic and aluminum content.

Materials chemistry
Together with McDonough Braungart Chemistry (MBDC), one of the world's leading sustainable design firms, we're assessing all of the chemicals and materials used in our products - evaluating them against 19 human and environmental health criteria. As a result, we're forming a cradle-to-cradle strategy for all of our products.

Recyclability
We select materials that can be recycled at the end of a product's use and then design in such a way that they can be easily disassembled and separated. To simplify recycling, we minimize co-mingled components, consider the number and type of fasteners and make disassembly easy with common hand tools. Adhesives are eliminated if possible. Recyclable parts are clearly marked.
